Reflections on 2024

Has 2024 passed by at high speed for you, too? Stopping still to reflect has always been a challenge for me, but when I do, I see that we have so much to be proud of and so much to build on. Impact has been our focus this year, and we’ve landed some brilliant new clients and enjoyed seeing them break new ground with Carbon Literacy training. Face-to-face training increased hugely in 2024, from London to Liverpool and Bristol to Havant – its been a real joy seeing the impact that on-site training can have.

In November, I surprised myself and launched the ‘Straight Talking Sustainability’ podcast! In less than a month, we’ve had over 800 downloads, which is fantastic. A highlight for me has been putting the guest list for 2025 together and being surprised (and impressed) at how many busy, successful people are keen to share their learning, tips, and insider secrets with us. If you haven’t managed to listen in yet – grab an episode or two here.

I also hosted five webinars on be Waste Wise this year, which collectively had 855 registrations. Check the recordings here.

This year, we have had some fantastic achievements, a brief snippet here:

👉 We delivered 40 Carbon Literacy courses, 9 Train the Trainer workshops, and trained 408 learners.

👉 We worked with 13 new clients, including household names like BT Group, Openreach, Delonghi Kenwood, Twinings, and B&Q.

👉 We celebrated our first client, the Carbon Literate Organisation Gold Award for Beko plc.

But our work isn’t just training – we support Beko plc, Gloucester Rugby, Anibotics, and others with retained advisory and project support.

This year also marked the completion of 4 years of operations for Lighthouse Sustainability. That feat in itself is impressive for a small business. But I am incredibly proud of how much we achieved in these four years; a massive shoutout to everyone who helped us get here. I count you all as friends and colleagues.

👉 In these 4 years, we have delivered over 130 courses across 29 countries and have trained over 1200 people in all!

We are excited about 2025, when we intend to expand our work to include short, accessible courses, develop our global carbon literacy and climate justice work, and broaden our reach through the podcast.
